Leasing is an agreement between you and a finance company, where they effectively advance the money for equipment to the security installer, and you pay an agreed monthly price (interest rate or fee included). 

And there’s usually an option to purchase it at the end for a final payment or get new equipment and add another lease. This is ideal if you want to upgrade your equipment for optimum security and efficiency every five to ten years.

Who provides West Mercia Security’s leasing?

JM Leasing has kindly answered a few questions that pop up when it comes to leasing: 

Will I own the equipment at the end of the leasing term?

At termination of the lease, assuming all payments have been met as per the agreement, ownership title may pass for a one-off further payment.

The funder who underwrites the vast majority of our leases usually charges one further repayment as per their agreement. In this instance, an example would be if a customer repays £100 a month over 5 years - the ownership would pass over to the customer for a further £100.

Is the equipment still a full expense for HMRC tax if it’s leased?

Yes. All lease repayments are VAT (recoverable) 100% fully tax deductible.

Can I add maintenance to the monthly lease?

Yes. JM Leasing will collect your maintenance fee at no extra cost on the lease direct debit and automatically transfer it over to us to maintain your system. 

How leasing security equipment works

Leasing is a simple process: 

1. Arrange a visit from one of our engineers.
2. We’ll listen to your needs and recommend a security, fire, or access control solution.
3. If you’ve requested a leasing quote, we’ll talk to JM Leasing to get this for you.
4. You’ll receive a full key facts document with information on the leasing and the price you could pay per month if you agree to the terms.
5. We’ll install your equipment and even maintain it as part of your agreement.
6. You sit back and enjoy the peace of mind that your building and staff are protected without paying a lump sum.
7. At the end of your lease, JM Leasing will ask if you’d like to purchase or upgrade the equipment. We can also handle any system refresh or upgrade for you, or you can keep the system you have with a final payment.
